My first thought for keeping a blog would be to post all the shenanigans
that go on in my classroom. I work in Pre-K! I can't make this stuff up. I find
it a great way to share the moments of being a teacher without breaking a
legality that comes with the job.
In all seriousness there are a few reasons that I think keeping a blog would
benefit my classroom. If I had a classroom blog I would love to be able to
share things that are going on in the classroom. Create an area for parents to
get to know each other and communicate with one another. Also I would like to
share students work. I would however, keep a classroom blog private.
If I teach an older class I like the idea of a book talk or literature
circle with the students. Posting web homework would be ideal as well. The
benefit to online posting is that the parents and others can view what is
required and also what work their child submits. If I had a personal teacher
blog I think that it would be fun to share my experiences (and not in the
funny way I listed earlier) with the world. I also would like to encourage
other teachers and people with the world of teaching.
So you're saying that you have big plans for blogging in your future with regard to communicating with parents, students and colleagues. I think that is an excellent idea! There are so many ways to share information, and a blog allows that sharing to take place in whatever way is appropriate for your audience. Excellent!
