I never knew
how important commenting on blogs was until reading these articles. I have
viewed many and always just read and left. I am glad now to know not only the
importance of commenting but the proper way of doing so. In the world of
blogging, anyone can write. They can voice their opinion whereas doing so elsewhere
might not be possible. Commenting plays an important role in this because it gives
the writer instant feedback on how the readers feel about what they wrote. It
allows many people to connect in one place from anywhere in the world. I
enjoyed the ProBlogger and Blue Skunk blog the most. These two people not only
had a true sense of what commenting should look like, but they gave good
information on why and how to comment. I knew of course to keep it clean. It
would be inappropriate to not conduct myself in a respectful manner. I think
that if someone has the guts to put their opinion out in the public view, they should
be ready for anything. That does not mean we cannot agree to disagree. It is
also nice to leave more than a short non-responsive comment. While the writer
likes to hear great things, not adding to the post is almost a “waste of your breath".
Find something to write about that you found important and give some feedback
on why or why not. Give the writer a chance to engage with you as well. (This
makes me glad I never commented on a blog before learning these points) I do,
however, find it interesting that the information about blogging and commenting
is coming from other blogs. What’s to say their information is not correct and
that we are commenting incorrectly? The beauty of the Internet and blogs is
that they can voice their opinion on the matter and many people can have
something to say. It seems like this has been a popular subject for a while and
that most of these writers had the same opinion. I also don't see any books
being published on how to leave a proper comment on a blog. That would be very
silly.
More about my commenting will be added in the future as the class
progresses.

Commenting within these blogs has been daunting. I just got tired of reading about the same information from everyone. I did find commenting on outside and friend's blogs to be more in depth conversations than just the normal "Great job"and "love what you are doing". It has allowed friends to know that I'm reading and some even feel more involved with me since we don't see each other all the time. I just keep reminding myself to stay involved and to be heard.

Welcome to the world of not only writing, but inputting. As much as I love to put my thoughts out there in MY blog (and you KNOW I do!), if it's public, I *WISH* more people would comment! If I don't want to hear what you think about my thoughts, I wouldn't put it out there.
ReplyDeleteFace it, the internet has opened doors of communication world wide...IF the world wants to communicate. Truth is, if it's only one-way communication, well...it's like talking to yourself.
...although, I have to admit that I kinda figured this entry was actually going to BE about mittens. Not disappointed; just shocked. Well. Now I know, lol.
I did not realize that there was protocol for commenting. But, after reading different sites, I realize that protocol is needed. As with any form of communication there are certain protocols. I didn't realize that commenting to comments was seen as necessary. I guess I've been rude by not replying to the replies. Now I know better!
